Woman missing after night out

Police are trying to trace a 40-year-old woman who went missing after a night out.

Detectives believe Mandy Franks, from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, may have come to harm after disappearing on Saturday in the centre of the town.

Detective Chief Inspector Jon Groves, of West Mercia Police, said Miss Franks went missing after initially visiting a bar with her 24-year-old partner Jody Evans.

The officer said: "We began our investigations when she was reported missing late on Sunday afternoon and although we have made significant progress, we have not been able to confirm any positive sightings of her after about 10.15pm on Saturday.

"We are becoming increasingly concerned for her safety and are treating it as a major incident with more than 50 officers currently involved in the search."

The officer, who is appealing for information from the public, added: "It is possible she has come to harm - we just do not know at this stage."

It is known Miss Franks and her partner attended a cafe bar in Frankwell, Shrewsbury, at around 9.30pm on Saturday night.
